BEIJING, PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA .-The Cuban and Chinese people know well the meaning of the friendship and mutual respect they have shared for years. Thus it was no surprise to hear Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez say that he felt “at home” here.

During the third day of his official visit to China, the Cuban President paid tribute to Mao Zedong, the supreme leader of the Communist Party of China and the People’s Republic of China, from 1949 through 1976.

After arriving in Shanghai on Tuesday, he traveled to Beijing where he was received at the city’s international airport by MaXiaowei, president of the country’s National Health Commission.

The first meeting on his agenda for the day was with Wang Yang, president of the XIII Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, who recalled his 2015 visit to Cuba, and meeting with Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, which he said made a deep impression on him. For his part Díaz-Canel reiterated that China is very important to Cuba, and that the government, party, and people are committed to further developing bilateral relations.

This is the third time the Cuban President has visited China, but the first as President of the country’s Councils of State and Ministers. He described the visit as one of “continuity and consolidation.”

The day also included a tour of the Forbidden City and a meeting with Cuban youth studying in China.

The second day of President Miguel Díaz-Canel’s official visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) began with a warm greeting he conveyed to the North Korean people from the Cuban people and Army General Raúl Castro.
First on the day’s agenda was a meeting with the President of the Supreme People’s Assembly Presidium, Kim Yong Nam, where Díaz-Canel commented, “Relations between Cuba and the DPRK are historic, and based on mutual respect.”
Next he visited Kim Il-sung University, established in 1946.
Díaz-Canel reported that during his discussion with the country’s President on Sunday, cooperation between Cuba and the DPRK in the areas of tourism, education, and public health was discussed.
The Cuban delegation was bid farewell with a spectacular gymnastics performance, which included the projection of images of Fidel with Kim Il-sung, and Raúl with Kim Jong-il, as well as DÍaz-Canel and Jim Jong-un, that drew extended applause.f0023541

Putin receives Cuban President Diaz-CanelHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 2 (ACN) The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, received this Friday morning the Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel, who is in Russia on a three-day official visit.

According to press reports from Moscow, Diaz-Canel has invited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to Havana next year with an official visit.

The Cuban leader stressed that Putin’s visit to the country four years ago “was an important milestone and a new step in the development of bilateral relations.Bearing in mind the great importance of his visit, we would like to invite him back to Cuba in 2019, five years from that moment,” he said.

Diaz-Canel gave a “fraternal greeting” to Putin from the First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party Raul Castro and stressed the great importance of his visit to Moscow, because it reflects the continuity of relations between Cuba and Russia.

Putin, for his part, has proposed to his Cuban counterpart to address economic cooperation, in addition to other issues. The Russian president has stressed that trade between the two countries went up 17% last year.

Putin added that relations between Russia and Cuba “were originally marked by a special strategic nature”, stressing that Moscow and Havana “are united by friendship, mutual support and aid”. He has also asked Diaz-Canel “to express his best wishes and cordial greetings to comrade Raul Castro.

The Cuban president arrived in the Russian capital this Thursday and his visit is expected to last until November 3. This Friday, the president has met with Putin to discuss bilateral cooperation in different spheres and exchange views on regional and global problems.

Cuba’s President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and the delegation accompanying him departed the Russian Federation Saturday night, after a busy visit, to arrive in Pyongyang, where a great multitude waited to greet them, cheering and waving the flags of the two countries.
It was around 1:00 pm local time when they reached the city’s international airport where he was welcomed with full military honors by Kim Jong-un, President of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s State Committee, and Commander in Chief of the Korean People’s Army.
