Cuba condemns terrorist attacks in Caracas

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in Caracas against the Supreme Court of Justice and the Ministry of Popular Power for Internal Affairs, Justice and Peace.
It is unjustifiable that certain governments and political figures, instead of expressing resolute and direct opposition to these terrorist and coup-mongering acts, present them as a supposed police rebellion, and manipulate them to incite the rupture of the civic-military union, and to attack the dignified decision of President Nicolás Manduro Moros to prevent chaos and call for the legitimate defense of constitutional order.
It is not surprising that the Organization of American States (OAS) and its secretary general have become, through their silence, accomplices of what happened and what may happen.
Cuba resolutely rejects the use of terrorism and foreign interference in Venezuela, while reiterating its firmest solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution and its leaders. Nothing and no one will prevent the brave people of Bolívar and Chávez from fighting with determination to defend their ideas and achievements, and restore the peace that others have broken.

Guernica is the most famous painting of the 20th century. Pablo Picasso (Málaga, 1881 – Mougins, France, 1973) first unveiled the monumental piece to the public 80 years ago and to celebrate this anniversary, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid has organized the exhibition Pity and Terror: Picasso’s Path to Guernica.
The exhibition focuses on the evolution of Picasso’s art – considered one of the greatest artists of all time, a genius of world painting and above all a great innovator – of which Guernica formed a crucial part.

His policies cannot take effect until the new regulations are established, a process that, according to the Fact Sheet, “may take several months.”
The official June 16 statement was barely uttered when the majority nationwide opposition to the Trump Cuba policy was once again reignited.

Indeed, it was already extremely active and vocal before the Little Havana, Miami venue and date were announced on June 9. By stage-managing the event in Little Havana, Trump was preaching to the choir, one that does not even include the rest of Florida, where the majority of Cuban-Americans oppose the blockade, or at least the Obama policy of making the blockade somewhat more flexible. Trump’s trademark manner of hand-picking events to spread the word across the country will not work. His Cold War rhetoric will not detract the forces that want to increase trade and travel to Cuba.

However, Trump’s policy is not yet set in stone. According to the June 16 White House Fact Sheet on Cuba Policy, the Treasury and Commerce Departments will begin the process of issuing new regulations in only 30 days. His policies cannot take effect until the new regulations are established, a process that, according to the Fact Sheet, “may take several months.” A lot can happen within this time frame.

Each new edition of the Havana International Danzón Festival, organized by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and its Association of Musicians, since 2004, recognizes and pays tribute to the history of this Cuban musical genre and its main figures in the youngest of the country’s provinces: Artemisa and Mayabeque.

As such Danzón Habana 2017, to be held June 21 – 25, in the capital and other nearby provinces, will be dedicated to the towns of San Antonio de los Baños, in Artemisa, and Madruga and Santa Cruz del Norte, in Mayabeque.

Maestro José Loyola Fernández, founder and president of the event, announced that as part of the International Festival outside the capital, these three Cuban towns will see an important series of activities surrounding the figures of the brothers Raimundo and Pablo Valenzuela, of San Antonio de los Baños, and José Urfé and Antonio María Romeu, from Madruga and Santa Cruz del Norte, respectively.
