The results of the visit to China are very positive, there was a transparent, cordial and open conversation, Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister Alejandro Gil Fernández told the press.

During the visit, twelve legal instruments were signed, including the reopening of new financing, he said.

The Minister of Economy and Planning pointed out that these reopenings are fundamentally associated with the investment of the modern floating dock, which arrived in Cuba in 2019, and which will be an important source of foreign currency income, by providing service to ships transiting that area of the Caribbean. It is an investment practically concluded, he said, with just some pending adjustments, and now progress will be made in its completion.

He also spoke to the press about the reconversion or modernization program, which is also an important credit from China that had not been concluded, and it was agreed to take steps for its completion. Progress was also made in other key investments for our economy, such as the Herradura wind farm, in the north of the province of Las Tunas, and, in turn, a solar photovoltaic farm of more than 100 megawatts.

In addition, there are two biopesticide plants in Havana and Villa Clara, and another to be built in Granma. The former have advanced in their execution, and we agreed to seek greater flexibility in terms of financing that would put them in the completion phase or in further progress.

In the conversations with President Xi Jinping, the Minister announced, a donation of around one hundred million dollars was revealed, which will be used in the priorities of the Cuban people. Continue reading Visit to China yields very positive results

Beijing , China.– President Xi Jinping described the ties that unite China and Cuba as an “exemplary case of solidarity and cooperation between socialist countries”, the first country in the Western Hemisphere, he recalled, to establish diplomatic relations with the new China.

In the segment of official conversations with the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, Xi Jinping considered that the Island has always led the way in Latin America in the development of relations with China. Now we find ourselves, he said, at a new historical starting point. We are ready to continue working to deepen political mutual trust and broaden practical cooperation.

He spoke to his Cuban counterpart of “supporting each other on issues related to our respective interests and strengthening coordination and concertation in international affairs, with a view to advancing hand in hand on the path of socialist construction with its own characteristics.”

In response, Díaz-Canel thanked the invitation for the visit, the first of a Head of State of Latin America and the Caribbean, after the successful celebration of the XX Congress of the Communist Party of China. “It is an expression of the high priority and personal attention we give to our close ties of friendship and cooperation,” he said.

He assured that he values very positively the theoretical and practical contributions of the leadership of Xi Jinping at the head of the Central Committee of the Party in the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, which we consider a true stimulus for all progressive forces.

Díaz-Canel recalled that this meeting coincided with the sixth anniversary of the physical departure of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, “who highlighted your capacity and firmness as a revolutionary leader.” Continue reading President Díaz-Canel fulfilled an intense work schedule on Friday in Beijing

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba states its firm rejection to the actions aimed at harming the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the People’s Republic of China; condemns interference in its internal affairs, and emphasizes its concern over the increasing tensions and further deterioration of the situation concerning Taiwan as a direct result of the aggressive policy and high military presence of the United States and its allies in the Taiwan Strait, military contacts and regular sale of weapons, actions all that undermine peace and international and regional peace.
New provocations, disguised as official contacts or high-level visits deliberately pose further dangers.
Cuba reaffirms its strict adherence to the “one China” principle and the acknowledgement of Taiwan as an inalienable part of the territory of that country.
The United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution 2758 adopted on October 25, 1971, recognized the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the true and sole legitimate representative of the Chinese people. Today, it has diplomatic relations with 181 countries based on the acknowledgement of the “one-China” principle.
The purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and International Law must be respected without selectivity or double standards.
China’s key role as a factor for stability and international balance cannot be disregarded, nor the relevance of its cooperation with developing countries with no political conditions attached.
